With the opening of the new Codiac Regional RCMP Community Policing Office on Main Street, there is increased police visibility in the downtown core. There will be a police cruiser parked in front of 795 Main Street, and police officers are at this location 7 days a week.
Community Policing will be leading de escalation training sessions in the new year starting on January 15. These training sessions will be open to local business owners who wish to learn skills on identifying, preventing and de-escalating conflict, agitation, verbal abuse and aggression.
Throughout December, Community Policing has been conducting sporadic weekend patrols at busy locations in Moncton, including hotels, and leaving placards inside of unlocked vehicles to remind citizens to lock their car doors.
The Community Policing Unit continues to respond to CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) from local business owners. A CPTED analysis is lead by trained police personnel who visits your business and makes recommendations on how you can adequately increase security in your place of business. To request a CPTED, please contact CPPC-Codiac@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
