Summer 2023: Two major international festivals presented by Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc.
Downtown Moncton – Wednesday, April 12th, 2023
Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. (DMCI) is proud to announce its first installment of summer programming for the 2023 summer season: two international arts and culture related festivals!
The Moncton International Buskers Festival will be held July 14th to 16th. Acrobats, a hula hoop expert, a world class soccer juggler from South America, and more will be performing in downtown Moncton for the inaugural edition.
The Moncton International Street Painting Festival is planned for New Brunswick Day weekend, August 5th to 7th. It will feature 2D and 3D chalk artists from North America and local artists from the Maritimes, who, over 3 days, will chalk giant street paintings around Canada Street and the Ian Fowler Oval by the Avenir Centre.
“These free admission, family focused arts festivals will add life to the streets of the downtown in addition to the already exciting summer activities planned,” says Patrick Richard, Executive Director of DMCI. “Given the international scale of the festivals, we are confident this will introduce downtown Moncton to new audiences around the world.”
Both festivals, presented in partnership with the City of Moncton, will include music stages featuring local musicians as well as family activities, such as a free kid’s chalk zone, and much more.
“We are thrilled to see these new festivals added to the already impressive list of summer offerings in the City of Moncton,” says Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold. “Showcasing two interactive art forms – busking and chalk art – will bring such an energy to our downtown and
provide visitors and residents alike with one more reason to get out and enjoy the summer weather and all Downtown Moncton has to offer.”
Details on both festivals will be revealed throughout the spring months, and can also be found on their respective websites:
