BEAUTIFICATION FUNDS FOR BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREAS

MONCTON, NB – December 5, 2023

Business Improvement Areas (BIA) in NB have received funding from the Provincial Department of Environment and Local Government, under the Investment Initiative for Business Improvement Areas. This initiative is administered by Downtown New Brunswick Association and provides grants for cost-shared projects partially funded by the Business Improvement Areas in the province of NB.

We are pleased to announce that Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. has been awarded funding for the following projects:

  • PatioFest 2023 (Event)
  • 2024-2026 Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. Strategic Plan (Planning)
  • DMCI Gift Cards Holiday Sale (Event)

“This funding provided much needed support for our second annual PatioFest concert series, in which we hosted 13 artists on 13 different patios throughout the Downtown, during this past June, July and August. It has also helped cover our marketing and promotion expenses for our record breaking Holiday Gift Card sale, this year, in which we sold almost $75,000 worth of Downtown Moncton Gift Cards, at 20% off. Additionally, in early 2024, it will help us invest in a strategic plan for the future success of our organization,” explained Patrick Richard, Executive Director of Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc.

“Downtowns are at the heart of every community and their success is critical to the economic prosperity of our small businesses and our province,” said Greg Turner, minister responsible for Opportunities NB, minister responsible for Economic Development and Small Business and MLA for Moncton South. “I am happy to see New Brunswick’s Business Improvement Areas leverage this funding toward their continued growth.”

Trina MacDonald, President of the Downtown NB Association is proud to announce that all 24 BIAs in the province have received grants under this initiative. “We have provided grants to help fund more than 45 projects in the 24 BIAs of the province which generates close to $3M worth of economic development to the local downtowns in the province.” She adds, “This funding from the province has benefited long-range planning projects, well-needed capital investments as well as bringing special events, festivals, and cultural activities to help promote local businesses and tourism in the province.”
